Teacher Training Distance Education

This course is for those teachers who want to hone their skills and get updated with the current teaching styles. Moreover being distance education, it allows the candidate to keep up with their current life scenario with no excess time wasted in travelling.

However most will argue that classroom teaching has far better effects on students than distance education, as there is a one-on-one with students rather than only books to see. But for a student who is inclined to learn about teaching and teacher teaching the modules serve the purpose completely.

Also help is always available from the institute if some particular amount of understanding is required or one is to shed some more light on a topic or argument phrase. Hence this way the student can always move on with one more diploma to their credit.

Distance education for teacher training covers all the topics of classroom training. Hence in no way do you miss out on any important topic. Even more project work is focussed upon, where the candidate have to delve into the field. Do a questionnaire session; understand child psychology, child-teacher relationships and so on.

The course fee varies from institute to institute. However the basic cost begins at Rs. 10000 for a six month diploma.

Some of the topics that are covered include:

  • Difference between Adults and Young learners
  • Development stages of a young learner
  • Montessori
  • Piaget
  • Language and the brain
  • Language and acquisition of the same
  • Lesson planning
  • Behaviour Management
  • Large Classes
  • Mixed Groups
  • Teaching practice sessions
Some institutes also offer internship for the students who have completed the diploma. While some are interned during the course period, so that they get a hands-on approach. Teaching practice is very important to every student wanting to be a teacher. As no amount of modules, coursework can ever match up to understanding and teaching students in person. Every child is different and every child has his own perimeter of understanding every topic.

Hence one has to change or re-asses the way the teaching is done so that students are in a better position to receive whatever is taught to them. The practice includes teaching primary students and pre-school students under the watch of senior teachers or heads who evaluate and asses the student. Once the candidate has completed the training and is successful in the same, a form is signed, stamped and sent to the course operator.

Once the coursework, fieldwork, research, training, internship etc are genuinely finished every student gets a certification, that the candidate is now in a position to be a teacher and can handle the responsibility of teaching young minds.
